The genus Cestrum comprises nearly 200 species of evergreen shrubs from South America to the Caribbean.

The small tubular flowers often appear in white to green, yellow, red and purple. The leaves evaporate an unpleasant smell after rubbing between fingers while most of the flowers scent very nice during the night.
