Flamingo flower

A great natural order of more than 500 genera. The Flamingo grows amongst the detritus of the tropical rain forest floor, where humidity is high and the strong light is filtered through the canopy of foliage above.

These handsome exotics with shiny dark green, oblong, heart-shaped leaves are grown for their long-lasting, showy flower bracts. The real flowers are inconspicuous tiny structures on the tail-like flower spadix.
