Queen palm

Despite the Queen Palm is close related to the Coconut Palm it can easily be distinguished by its characteristic feather type fronds. Hence the former name “Cocos plumosa”.

The round orange fleshy fruits are eaten by birds and contain a coconut-like hard pit. The rings around the stem do not indicate the age, but are the marks of the old fallen fronds. The palm is very popular as a quick-growing ornamental tree.
