Blue ginger

Blue ginger is a misnomer, although somewhat looking like a ginger, it is actually related to the wandering jew.

This somewhat succulent perennial has also tubular stems, and like the Costus, spirally arranged leaves. The upright inflorescences appear in autumn and winter. The flowers are dark mauve blue, a very rare colour.
