However, Tenerife is much more than just a popular tourist destination. The island stands out for its diversity, both in terms of tourism and landscape, as well as culturally. It is characterized by the bustling centers of mass tourism in the south, as well as the quiet, authentic places in other parts of the island.

As the Talg family, we place great importance on highlighting this diversity while actively working on solutions to address all challenges. We are aware that tourism plays a vital role in the island’s economic development, but it is also essential to consider the needs and concerns of the local population and the environment.

Therefore, we strongly advocate for sustainable tourism that combines economic, social, and environmental sustainability. For over 65 years, we have worked closely with local communities and organizations to find solutions that meet the needs of both tourists and locals.

Location

The hotel stands alongside Park Taoro above the resort of Puerto de la Cruz with sweeping views across the north west coast and the verdant valley to Mount Teide and the Tigaiga Mountains. It’s a 15 minute walk downhill into the resort, beaches, and to the Loro Parque shuttle bus.

Style and Character

Owned by the Talg family for three generations, Hotel Tigaiga is a stylish, welcoming and comfortable hotel, which works in harmony with the beauty and serenity of its surroundings. The interior décor blurs the barrier between inside and out through the extensive use of glass and the colour coordination of  furnishings, green for garden facing, blue for sea facing. There’s nothing state-of-the-art or wow about the style, it just works.

Service and Facilities

Friendly, informed and professional staff deliver exceptional service at every level of the hotel and display a genuine commitment to excellent customer service. The Tigaiga’s tour de force is its beautiful, botanic garden which has more palms than there are beds in the hotel, and where every specimen is recorded in a digital catalogue. Sun terraces and a heated swimming pool provide grandstand views, while massages and a sauna are available in a small room alongside.

Rooms

Rooms continue the theme of maximising light and reflecting nature, with a full-length window incorporating doors to the balcony; eggshell walls and curtains to reflect the light; apple green fitted carpets that extend out to the balcony in the form of AstroTurf; and behind the sliding mirror in the en-suite, a window in the partition wall so you can see the outside while you shower. Comfortable twin beds have duvets, and above them, a giant photographic print of a Tenerife landscape. Balconies have partial sea views and look out over Mount Teide or face onto Park Taoro.

Food and Drink

Breakfast and dinner are served in the conservatory style Jardín restaurant. Breakfast is buffet service with a comprehensive selection of fresh fruits and juice; cold and hot dishes, cereals, bread and pastry choices. Unusually, and delightfully, dinner is table service with a set menu including meat, fish and vegetarian choices. Food is tasty, well prepared and presented, and uses locally-sourced ingredients. The wine list is predominantly local. Alongside the garden, the Tinguaro à la carte restaurant is also open to the public.

To make this possible, we have also been working on a strict protocol that guarantees quality and compliance with all sanitary measures imposed by the authorities.

The Watify team has developed brief case studies of a number of SMEs in Europe that have successfully transformed their business or created new products / services using digital technologies and /or Key Enabling Technologies.

The Tigaiga was identified as a good example of a success story having transformed its business by introducing 3D Panorama, Virtual tours and Earth TV. A case study of  our company outlining the challenge addressed, solution applied, transformation process, and results and lessons learned will be published on the European Commission’s website.

The NYE special was a success and has considerably extended the reach in non-TV media. For your reference here are the basic results of the project:

– earthTV streamed 3 different streams for 24 hours (English, German and Spanish)
– this included live cameras from 30 countries with viewers from 111 countries
– the stream reached 9.13m Facebook users and was watched 2.21m times
– 91k people liked and commented on the stream
– 69,809 hours of the content was watched online
